DEEP DIVE
The year is 2023, MNF Enterprise had advanced technology and a sponsored booth at Microsoft Ignite event in the Sydney International Convention Centre (ICC). We had to come in strong and grab everyone's attention - let me take you through my process of making this happen
Before I can start any designs I need to figure out the Who, the Why and the What - Who's going, Why are we going? and What do we want to get out of this event?
To do this I created a questionnaire that was answered by the Sales Team who would be working at the event. The main categories of the survey are:
THE EVENT:
-
What is the event and its purpose?
-
Who is attending? (Managers, graduates, international guests etc)
OUR PURPOSE:
-
Have we attended this event before?
-
What do we want to get out of this event?
-
What's our purpose for attending this event?
-
e.g. to get leads
-
educate potential customers
-
to meet competitors/see what's in the market
-
brand identity
-
GENERAL INFORMATION:
-
What space/package is available?
-
What set up do we have?
-
e.g. booth with 4 walls/panels
-
no booth, just a table and room for a pull up banner etc
-
-
How do the attendees take in information? Example:
-
The younger market won't be re reading flyers
-
Do the viewers have an area to watch a video?
-
Potential customers who may be travelling wont carry a flyer around for potentially 2 days and then back home then to work
-
Will the attendees be meeting multiple companies at this event? Can we give them a link to come back to?
-
Is this event offering a digital booth that attendees will be accessing?
-
-
Who will follow up and review the success of the event?
HARD-HITTING-TAGLINE
At a tech event there is a lot of technology going around, MNF Enterprise knew they had modern cloud technology that not a lot of the other competitors had - I wanted to catch attendees off guard - really stop them in their tracks and make them think.
After the Sales Team filled out my questionnaire, I gathered the information that a lot of attendees use 'on-premise' technology which is physical equipment on their premise (fax machines, desk phones etc). MNF Enterprise's technology was in the cloud - a streamlined, quick, non bulky, fast responsive solution to the old on-prem technology.
I came up with the slogan: "On-prem is dead. What's your telco plan?". I made sure this hard hitting message would be seen on our booth by people walking around and also I put it on the back of our teams polo shirts - this way if you weren't near our booth you'd still see it. We wanted attendees to read it, and think, what was their plan? What were they doing in regards to their out of date technology? - we have the solution for them.
To help build engagement I created a interactive game for the booth - "it's time to shoot for the cloud"
We gave attendees a nerf shooter and I set up targets which featured our cloud technology icons to shoot at. Winners would win an MNF Enterprise stubby holder. The line was huge all day with people wanting to play - while they were waiting the sales team were able to chat about the attendees telecom plans and educate them on their products/services and sign up new leads.
The wrap up
After the event I sat down with the Sales Team and noted down all of their information about the event - did they meet and sign up new customers, feedback on the game and merchandise, anything they thought worked well and anything they'd like to see for next year.
The Sales team met over 100 new interested clients and signed up multiple on the day. The Sales team had a large amount of interested clients to work with over the following weeks and signing them up onto the the cloud technology.
